The Dyson V15 Detect isn't new in the market. I usually have a robot vacuum cleaner setup for my hard flooring but Dyson's flagship vacuum cleaner makes a good case for itself, despite costing $650 / Rs 65,900. The V15 Detect is smart, powerful, versatile and offers a slew of features. It made cleaning fun for me.

The Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum cleaner doesn't come with a physical manual but you can find one online. You shouldn't need one as the process of getting started with the V15 Detect is pretty simple. You unbox the device and are greeted with all the accessories alongside the main gun, which you have to plug in to get to 100%.

It takes a lot of time to charge from zero to full – 4.5 hours to be precise. To start cleaning with the device, simply attach your preferred attachment, and use the selection button (below the LCD screen) to set the mode.

I mostly used it in Auto mode, so the V15 Detect could decide for itself the amount of suction power needed to clean the specific area. You can choose from Eco, Medium and Boost option. Dyson says it can last up to 60 minutes on Eco mode but if you’re using it in Boost, be prepared to take a hit on the battery.

The flagship Dyson vacuum cleaner weighs a few grams more than 3kg, which is comfortable to hold and clean with. It comes with a 0.54L bin volume that can hold a good amount of dust, so you don't have to take it out after every cleaning session (but you ideally should). With 240W of suction power, this is one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners.

The V15 Detect comes with a healthy number of attachments. You get a Laser Clean Fluffy cleaner head for hard floors that shines an illuminating light on the dust you can't see. The laser is positioned around 0.3-inches from the ground, and helps in illuminating hard floors. It showed dust in places that were cleaned by my cheap robot vacuum cleaner.

It is accompanied by an anti-tangle High Torque cleaner head that can be used on all kinds of floors, a crevice tool for edges and narrow gaps, an anti-tangle hair screw tool for your pet, a dirt brush mainly for furniture, and a mini soft dusting brush for delicate surfaces and fabrics. There is a combination tool that comes with a brush and wide nozzle.

The hair screw tool with an anti-tangle conical brush bar can be used to pick up long hair and pet hair easily. According to Dyson, the hair screw tool features a helix of "stiff nylon bristles guarantees constant contact with the floor and the bristles themselves are precisely angled to let hair ‘leapfrog’ them as they migrate off the patented brush bar. It provides motorised cleaning for smaller spaces." It can be great for people with pets at home. Oh, and before I forget, the 25.75-inch wand is the part that attaches the vacuum gun to all the other accessories, so you can clean while standing up.

The vacuum gun features an LCD screen at the rear end, which shows your cleaning mode, minutes of runtime left, and blockage information. It also gives you the battery level when it's charging. It houses an acoustic piezoelectric sensor and microprocessor that calculates the size and quantity of the particles being sucked up. It uses that data to decide whether to increase suction power or not. The display also shows you a graph indicating how much dust you’ve removed after each cleaning session.

You also get the usual docking station and charger. The Dyson V15 Detect offers swappable batteries, so you can purchase additional click-in batteries if you want your device to last longer. I’d have loved for it to connect with the Dyson Link app to give me information about the runtime left, summary of cleaning sessions and information about when to change the filter.

The Dyson V15 Detect might be on the expensive side but the vacuum cleaner offers stronger suction power than any of its previous models, and comes with a wide range of accessories. It is powerful, flexible and solid. If you have $650 or Rs 65,900 to spend on a vacuum cleaner, the V15 Detect is an excellent choice.
